CASE STUDY
Task
Create an e-commerce website and mobile APP for people to browse and purchase furniture for home delivery.
The fictional client Maynooth is a new business selling affordable high-end design furniture made in Ireland.
User Persona
The target audience is style and price conscious and likes to browse style guides online.
Albeit a mock project, I compiled deliverables including basic wireframing for client approval, high fidelity prototypes and UI assets for developers. This is my first UI/UX project and looking back, it lacks in visual excitement, depth and hierarchy in large part due to the light and dull color theme. Especially for the website's category page, I would either change the background color or add shadows to the product images for higher contrast and ease of viewing. Similarly, I would avoid using the thin variation of the typeface, as it recedes into the background and becomes almost invisible. Finally, this project would benefit from user testing and further iterations. It was nonetheless a highly valuable project through which I began learning the ins and outs of Adobe XD and seeing where my strengths and weaknesses lie in UI/UX design.
